We would like to briefly explain the definition of the word minorities.

What are minorities?

Quotation from Wikipedia:

„The distinctive characteristics of minorities are usually language, race or religion, but moral concepts, sexual identity or social function can also constitute the status of minorities.“

What do minorities have to do with the popular vote?

With the minaret referendum a topic was taken to the popular vote which concerned the minority "Muslims in Switzerland". Unfortunately, religious minorities do not have a real chance in such a popular vote because there is no large unified lobby behind them and therefore no financial support either.

Every future referendum that is taken to the popluar vote in Switzerland concerning any minority can lead to the same result. There need not necessarily be a religious background. The referendum or the popular vote, respectively, can be aimed at any minority according to above definition.

It is our idea to facilitate the discussion on a central platform and provide the possiblity to show solidarity with minorities and make a small financial contribution to the foundation for minorities.
